The people of our church

While more than half the people who participate in the various activities and programs of Hope Chapel Tokorozawa are Japanese, we do have a large number of foreigners who are not visitors but who actually live here in Tokorozawa and the surrounding area.
PEOPLE OF HOPETOKO Every month, we introduce our member on the page.
Our Church
Hope Chapel Tokorozawa is one of several hundred churches that choose to share the name and values of the Hope Chapel Movement, founded by one of America’s most prolific church planters, Dr. Ralph Moore.
Hope Chapel also belongs to a larger family of churches known as the Foursquare Gospel Church.  Today there are thirty-three other Foursquare churches here in Japan and Foursquare Churches in more than 140 countries
.

If you're not a Christian yet・・・
We’re glad that you came to visit us and hope that you liked us enough to come again soon.
Be sure to ask your friend or family member who brought you any questions you might have about what you saw or heard today, and if you came by yourself, please feel free to ask myself, one of our staff or Sunday school teachers those questions!  Or you might want to ask your questions at

If you're already a Christian・・・
The Foursquare Gospel Church, to which Hope Chapel Tokorozawa belongs, is committed to interdenominational, worldwide evangelism.
“Foursquare” refers to belief in Jesus Christ as the 1) Savior, 2) Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, 3) Healer and 4) Coming King.  Foursquare also believes that
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8)
Here at Hope Chapel Tokorozawa we believe that our calling is to bring Jesus to the people of Tokorozawa, Greater Tokyo and the world at Tokyo’s door through prayer and meaningful relationships.  Even if you’re from a different church background, perhaps even from another part of the world, we would like to welcome you, and hope that you will find your place among the others God has led here.  And please consider becoming part of one of our MiniChurches-small groups of believers that gather at convenient times and places for teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, prayer, giving to the needs of others and giving thanks to God.

Our Pastor
Our Pastor Corey David Grinder was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii of Japanese, German, Dutch, Irish and Italian descent.  He and his wife Lisa--also from Honolulu-have lived here since 1992 and both of their children were born and are being educated in the Japanese public school system.
Corey worked as a professional firefighter for almost nine years before entering full-time Christian ministry, first under Rev. Ralph Moore and overseeing a bible school, missions program and nearly 1300 single adults and then coming to Tokorozawa at the invitation of the Japan Foursquare Gospel Church.  Corey presently serves on the Director of Overseas Missions for the Japanese Foursquare church and as a Regional Coordinator for Foursquare Missions International (FMI) to the North Asia Region which includes parts of Russia, Japan, Mongolia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
